The most Delicious Places in Krakow

September 9, 2022

When walking through the city, it often happens that a person gets hungry. To help you decide where to go and what’s good to eat in Krakow, here are some tried-and-tested tips for Krakow restaurants.

Restaurants

Trattoria Mamma Mia – ul. Karmelicka 14

The best Italian pizza in the center. The pleasant restaurant in the bowels of the stoneworks on Carmelica Street allows you to taste true Italian flavors just five minutes from the Market Square.

SmakoƂyki restaurant – Floriana Straszewskiego 28

Polish cuisine in a stylish space overlooking the oldest university in Poland. Although the cuisine is rather traditional, from time to time you can also taste dishes from other cuisines. Guaranteed good value for money.

Bar Mleczny Flisak – Tadeusz Kosciuszko 1

If you’re sentimental about the communist era, the milk bars in Poland will take you there in the blink of an eye. We choose the traditional Bar Mleczny for you, which is owned by the traditional Polish chain of Jubilat department stores. Good food at unbelievably low prices.

Charlotte – plac SzczepaƄski 2

There are usually lines forming for breakfast, but if you stop in, you’ll be greeted by the famous French aroma of buttery pastries. We recommend this place not only for breakfast, but also for lunch or an afternoon snack.

Krowarzywa Vegan Burgers – SƂawkowska 8

If you’re a fan of meatless meals, this is one for you. With some vegan plant-based options, you won’t even notice that you’re not eating meat. And if you haven’t come across anything like this before, make sure you come here for a burger!

77 Sushi – Poselska 18

Good sushi is hard to find here. But we have already found it for you: in Krakow! This restaurant isn’t one of the cheapest, but if you’re a fan of Asian flavors, it’s definitely worth a trip at least once.

Bakeries and Confectioneries

Zaczyn – Tadeusz Kosciuszko 27

The newly opened bakery will surprise you at first with its quite high prices, but if you are chasing real quality, be sure to try at least one of their sourdough buns. They are truly priceless.

Pochlebstwo – Tadeusza Romanowicza 5/7B

Further away from the center, among the newly built blocks of apartments, there is a hidden gem among the bakeries. The best bread and buns you can buy around Visla.

Pawlak

Tradition that tastes good. Once again, we’re going back in time a bit, because shopping at Pawlak makes you feel like you’re buying bread at the village bakery. But don’t be fooled. It’s the best that Krakow’s bakery chain has to offer.

Ciastkarnia Vanilla – Brzozowa 13{i}

The homemade cakes and the beautiful surroundings of this patisserie will steal your heart. It’s somewhat hidden amongst the other, more prominent restaurants around, so it’s easy to miss. But if you find it, you won’t regret it.

Cafés

Kaffe Bageri Stockholm – Ɓobzowska 17

Definitely the best Scandinavian pastry in town. The pleasant atmosphere of this tiny café just a short walk from the center will surely charm you and grab you by the heart. Most of all, we recommend their cardamom buns.

CafĂ© Lisboa – Dolnych MƂynĂłw 3/4

Pastéis de nata a Krakow? Why not? At this address you will find a nice café, where besides coffee and sweets, they also offer fine Portuguese wine and other delicacies from the west of the Iberian peninsula.

Cytat CafĂ© – Miodowa 23

A book, coffee, cake. Cytat CafĂ© is the perfect place to escape a rainy day. It’s a place to hang out with friends or even alone. The cafĂ© has its own charm, as the literary spirit breathes on you all around.

Bars, Pubs

Sklanki  Jakuba 19

A wine bar in the famous Kazimierz district, which, in addition to offering great wines, also boasts a wide selection of small bites to nibble on. If you’re wondering where to take your colleagues after work or your partner on a date, this is the right choice! During the summer months, it is also possible to sit in the pretty garden surroundings, amidst the brick stonework. A truly enchanting place.

House of Beer ƚwiętego Tomasza 35

Beer and a good burger. Or just a good beer. Really good beer. When you walk into this pub, you’re bound to be taken aback by the range of beers staring back at you from the shelf above the tap. Be sure to get advice from the staff. Tell them about your favorite flavors and they’ll match your beer to your taste.

Pierwszy Lokal na Stolarskiej – Stolarska 6

A legendary bar, a legendary name, a pleasant environment a stone’s throw from the Small Market Square. The menu is not particularly out of the ordinary, but the friendly staff do their best. If you stop by often, you’ll build a relationship with each other where you’ll be greeted by name at the door.

Bonus:

Okrąglak – Estery 46

Whoever passes by this place on a visit to Krakow cannot say that they have walked all of it. Traditional Polish zapiekanki stalls are located in Kazimierz in the building of a former poultry slaughterhouse. However, all that remains of it is a shack, which has several stalls with these tasty Polish baguettes built into it. You can order these in different variations, and moreover, half of them will satisfy every person’s hunger.

A whiff of homeland

Trdelník – Ciemna 4 (food track)

Guaranteed the best trdelnĂky in Krakow. Don’t be lured by their stuffed imitations. Reach instead for real trdelnĂk baked according to a Czech recipe. When you taste it, you will feel like at your grandmother’s during summer in the hinterland!
